This role will lead cross-functional teams and manage projects from start to finish, overseeing the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of industrial automation systems.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Overseeing the technical execution, quality, and success of each project
  • Designing PLC, HMI, and software systems for greenfield and existing industrial applications
  • Writing technical documentation to support design activities, documenting work plans and work performed
  • Providing support, coaching, and mentorship to Automation team members to ensure efficiency for technical execution and project processes for each project they are leading
  • Supervising and/or performing FAT testing in-office or at client site to a documented test plan
  • Performing commissioning services at the client site as needed per the commissioning schedule which will require work to be completed after hours, on weekends, and on statutory holidays from time to time
  • Communicating effectively with the client regarding project progress in a professional manner
  • Travelling to client sites for meetings or to perform work, as required
  • Managing the allocation of tasks efficiently, ensuring deadlines are met, and providing time estimates and feedback to project managers

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or related field from a recognized post secondary institution
  • Registration as an EIT, P.Eng., or AScT in British Columbia
  • 5+ years of experience in the industrial automation industry, with a focus on system design and development
  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming, HMI/SCADA, and industrial networking
  • Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional teams and complex projects
  • Solid technical documentation writing skills
  • Expert problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel to domestic and international sites (typically 20% to maximum 30% per annum)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • System integrator experience, specifically in bulk material handling
