Arbutus Search Group is seeking a talented and self-motivated Controls Field Service Technician to join our client’s team at the forefront of the wood processing industry.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Servicing, installing, and upgrading various control systems at customer sites;
  • Performing accurate and timely completion of service calls and regular site visits to ensure equipment meets quality and safety standards;
  • Responding to and communicating effectively with customers, engineers, and project managers to ensure customer requirements are understood and resolved; and
  • Providing 24/7 remote customer support coverage on rotation.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma, degree or trade qualification in the electrical field or the equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Experience with:
    • programming Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, RSLogix PLC products
    • Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)
    • Servo motors
    • Delta RMC and/or Allen-Bradley motion control
  • Knowledge of Sawmill, Planermill, and/or Plywood/OSB equipment (preferred but not required);
  • Basic understanding of Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems;
  • Electrical troubleshooting skills;
  • Ability to read electrical drawings/prints;
  • Ability to work effectively with customers;
  • Ability to cross international borders and travel extensively to customer locations in North America and overseas; and
  • Ability to work irregular hours and overtime as required.

COMPENSATION:

  • $34-$50/hour.
