Contract – 8 months duration minimum (December 2024)
(minimum of 6 months of Full-Time, after that would be potentially part-time for a while during quiet weeks as expected for this type of role)

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Our client is a leader in bulk material handling & port operations located in North Vancouver and is a vital link within the supply chain, transporting commodities from Canada to global markets. 

Come join their team as a Process Architect/Writer and utilize your strong experience in project management to ensure effective development of Cost Control processes, including creating and updating processes, procedures, and documentation for the company’s new governance model. This role will also assist with the training and implementation of process and procedure documentation across the organization.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Liaising with senior leadership to identify which policies and procedures to develop, update, and implement operationally.
  • Collaborating with the Engineering Manager and Project Services Director on Governance templates and tools.
  • Drafting documentation for review and approval prior to implementation.
  • Work together with the cost system developer to ensure processes and procedures align with the cost control system in development.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, engineering, English, or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 5+ years in a project management/project controls role.
  • Demonstrated understanding of project execution integrated systems and discipline interfaces considering project management, project controls (budget assignments, change management, cost reporting), procurement, finance, accounts payable, and close-out.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency using MS Office Suite, Outlook, Access, and SharePoint.
  • Experience creating and implementing policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Experience working with cost management structures.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Background in project management, and project controls combined with multi-phase project execution experience is considered an asset.
  • Preference is given to those with multidiscipline, multiphase, heavy industrial project execution experience.
  • Formal education in technical writing and communications is preferred.

COMPENSATION:

  • In line with the market as a Financial System Technical Writer Intermediate to Senior – $50/hour – $80/hour.
  • Sole proprietor or incorporated.
