YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:
- Performing EIC engineering and design for both greenfield and existing industrial applications.
- Applying standard engineering tools and software to validate electrical and control systems.
- Preparing and revising design drawings using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
- Developing electrical schematics and panel layouts in compliance with UL508A and CEC standards, including bills of materials (BOMs) and complete drawing sets.
- Creating equipment and instrument lists, selecting appropriate components per customer specifications, and generating PLC I/O lists and rack layouts.
- Designing network and safety systems, including network topology drawings, safety architecture, and wiring diagrams.
- Developing single-line diagrams, performing load demand calculations, and sizing circuit breakers, cables, VFDs, and cable trays.
- Designing lighting and emergency lighting systems, performing simulations, and preparing related drawings.
- Conducting power system studies such as load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and harmonic analysis.
- Writing technical documentation to support design activities and maintaining accurate records of work performed.
- Interpreting client specifications, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, and providing feedback when procedural updates are required.
- Coordinating with electrical fabrication shops and contractors throughout project execution.
- Inspecting electrical components during and after installation, and performing FAT testing both in-house and at remote locations.
- Providing on-site supervision and commissioning services, including occasional after-hours, weekend, or holiday work as required.
- Communicating effectively with clients regarding project progress and technical details.
- Managing project priorities to ensure timely completion and providing time estimates and feedback to project managers.
- Recording work hours and comments in the timesheet system weekly in accordance with management deadlines.
- Developing, configuring, and troubleshooting PLC programs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent) based on project requirements.
- Designing and maintaining HMI screens and interface logic to ensure clear and functional operational visualization.
- Performing system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting both in-office and on-site.
- Collaborating with engineers and technicians to integrate PLC and HMI systems with field devices.
- Ensuring all designs and installations comply with safety standards, codes, and project requirements.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution, with progress toward a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
- 5–7 years of design experience related to industrial control panels.
- Demonstrated proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent).
- Hands-on experience developing and configuring HMIs (FactoryTalk, Ignition, Wonderware, or similar platforms).
- Solid understanding of electrical schematics, control circuits, and industrial automation principles.
- Experience designing power distribution systems ranging from 120V to 4160V.
- Proficiency in SKM or ETAP analysis software, CAD tools (preferably AutoCAD Electrical), and Microsoft Office (including Excel).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
- Capability of working both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
COMPENSATION: $100k-$110k base + bonus
