YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Leading essential aspects of HR programs, including performance management, training and development, employee engagement, recruitment, employee relations, legal compliance, organizational policy, and onboarding.
  • Providing HR advisory services to employees and offering support and counsel to management on various people management issues.
  • Maintaining and communicating company policies, procedures, and HR programs to ensure they align with corporate strategy, goals, and employment legislation.
  • Collaborating with managers to assess training needs and skill gaps, developing and monitoring the annual training and development budget to manage costs.
  • Providing information to employees and/or their representatives about available options in different situations, including resignations, layoffs, life insurance plans, disability insurance, divorce/separation, and garnishment.
  • Participating in projects by providing input on system improvement initiatives, development, testing, and implementation of internal HR systems.
  • Establishing effective leadership and participation in the HSEMS by demonstrating safety behaviors, reviewing and developing materials and documentation, and actively communicating requirements with superintendents, foremen, contractors, and workers.
  • Working in accordance with the Security Management System, immediately reporting any suspicious activities to senior management and/or the Security Officer.
  • Ensuring workers are properly trained and educated to perform their duties, understanding the consequences of inappropriate conduct, behavior, or disregard for safety and security programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensuring the highest levels of safety are applied in all activities and operations are in compliance with both the law and the HSEMS.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A degree and/or diploma in Human Resources, with CPHR (preferred) and PCP designations (GBA or CEBS designations will be an asset).
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an HR generalist role, including direct experience in pay and benefits.
  • Strong knowledge of employment-related legislation (ex. Canada Labour Code, Human Rights).
  • Proven experience in HR metrics, recruitment, training and development, and employee relations.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain good working relationships and achieve buy-in and ownership of quality standards and initiatives across all departments and levels.
  • Sound judgment and analytical thinking that supports decision-making, project management, and the ability to prioritize and manage timelines.
  • Self-reliance with the ability to take initiative and make decisions under time constraints.

COMPENSATION:

  •  $90k – $110k, annually.
