Manager of Drive Systems and Power
THE OPPORTUNITY:
We are seeking a Manager of Drive Systems and Power to join the team of one of North America’s premier Automation and Control Systems Integrators.
This role reports to the President, upholding the organization’s reputation through transparent interactions and policy compliance. Responsibilities include budget management, resource allocation, and strategic planning with ownership. It focuses on improving VFDs, Soft Starters, and Power Electronic Equipment services, and providing technical support to Sales and Marketing. The role also involves leading team members, setting quality standards, and delivering technical training.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:
- Report to the President and uphold the organization’s reputation through transparent interactions with customers and departments, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Understanding organizational culture and processes to achieve objectives.
- Overseeing the department’s budget preparation, reporting, and resource allocation.
- Enhancing the company’s capabilities in servicing, commissioning, and testing Medium Voltage (MV), Low Voltage (LV) Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), Soft Starters, and Power Electronic Equipment.
- Developing procedures and standards to ensure a high level of drive servicing, commissioning, and startup.
- Collaborating with the Sales and Marketing team to provide expert technical advice on drives and power systems.
- Preparing quotations and proposals.
- Delivering in-house technical training to keep technical staff up-to-date with the latest drive technology.
- Supervising, directing, and motivating team members, monitoring their performance against department and company goals.
- Ensuring team members are complying with company policies.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 7 years of recent progressive experience with medium and low voltage drives, motor control centers, soft starters, and electrical power devices.
- 5+ years of management experience or equivalent in team and project supervision.
- 2+ years of sales experience in heavy industries such as ports and terminals preferred.
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentation abilities.
COMPENSATION: $115-$125k + 12k bonus
