YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Upholding and demonstrating the standards of practice, including a commitment to safety, corporate social responsibility, core values, and engaging in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Developing and executing approved project plans, managing a portfolio of small to large multimillion-dollar projects through the entire project cycle, and ensuring alignment with the organization’s project execution methodologies and quality standards.
  • Overseeing delivery of a full list of deliverables for electrical power and automation projects, managing scope, schedule, quality, and resource assignments to meet project expectations.
  • Identifying changes in project scope and professionally negotiating change orders with clients.
  • Providing status updates and project projections regarding designs, compliance, and commissioning milestones, including budget, quality, and schedule.
  • Leading projects and engineering resources effectively with a strong commitment to quality and engineering design processes, ensuring technical solutions meet client requirements.
  • Managing technical projects from initiation through commissioning and closing phases, identifying, planning for, and mitigating risks.
  • Coordinating and aligning project stakeholders across all engineering disciplines from project feasibility through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup.
  • Cultivating strong relationships with clients and colleagues, transferring learning from project implementation to improve best practices, and participating in strategic project reviews to continuously assess and improve execution strategies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in electrical engineering or related discipline and/or relevant industry certifications.
  • 7+ years of technical experience and 5+ years in project management in electrical power and automation for industrial projects, including brownfield plant modernization and commissioning.
  • 5+ years as an electrical or automation engineer, with broad knowledge of power systems, automation systems, and industrial networks, including design, installation, and commissioning.
  • Experience working in a dynamic and cross-functional role for a smaller business entity with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects, build relationships, and coordinate technical engineering inputs aligned with quality standards.
  • Demonstrated skills in creating and delivering project management presentations and writing reports and technical communications.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and execution skills, including financial analysis.
  • Proficiency using design and document control software.
  • Ability to identify and implement innovations and emerging technologies in control systems, programming, and instrumentation, staying current with evolving electrical codes and practices globally.
  • Talent for stakeholder management, communicating effectively with internal teams and clients, encouraging collaboration and individuality.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, effectively working in team environments and building positive relationships with all project stakeholders.
  • Maturity to deliver and receive feedback fairly and professionally.
  • Strong commitment to maintaining health and safety standards onsite.
  • Exceptional decision-making skills, demonstrating both strategic and tactical approaches to challenges.
  • Creative and critical thinking skills with the ability to assess situations and opportunities effectively and accurately. 
  • Highly motivated and organized self-starter who thrives in a goal-oriented and deadline-driven corporate environment.
  • Willingness to travel to projects and meet with clients, with travel expectations of approximately 25 percent.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience developing a PMO and best practices is considered an asset.

COMPENSATION: $130k to $165K
