THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are seeking a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Alabama who is willing to serve as the Managing Agent for our client’s company. This key role involves ensuring regulatory compliance, overseeing engineering operations within Alabama, serving as the Engineer of Record, managing the firm’s Certificate of Authorization, and supervising engineering personnel. The successful candidate will also play a vital role in maintaining professional standards and supporting licensure and authorization efforts in other US states as needed.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Serving as the Managing Agent for the Alabama office, ensuring compliance with all requirements set by the Alabama Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors (BELS).
  • Overseeing and approving engineering activities to ensure alignment with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Acting as the company’s Professional Engineer of Record for projects requiring a licensed engineer in Alabama.
  • Supporting and managing regulatory filings and communications with engineering boards.
  • Taking direct responsibility for all engineering work conducted in Alabama and for all projects offered or delivered by the firm within the state.
  • Managing the renewal process for the firm’s Certificate of Authorization.
  • Providing overall administrative supervision of the firm’s licensed and subordinate personnel performing engineering work in Alabama.
  • Ensuring the firm’s policies and practices conform to the rules of professional conduct established by BELS.
  • Maintaining and renewing Alabama PE licensure.
  • Pursuing licensure and obtaining Certificates of Authorization in other U.S. states as needed to support company operations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Professional Engineer designation (PE) for the state of Alabama or another state, able to transfer to Alabama.
  • 3+ years’ experience minimum in a role involving industrial machine design and electrical/control design.
  • Experience with CAD software, Microsoft Office, and Excel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience designing power distribution systems (120V to 15kV).
  • Experience with PLC programming (Rockwell).

SALARY RANGE: $150K to $165K base + bonus.
