THE OPPORTUNITY:
We are seeking a creative and organized professional to join our client’s team as an Estimator. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing precise budgets, proposals, and hard bids for the Mass Timber team. You will be expected to accurately define the scope of materials, conduct material takeoffs, and prepare and complete bid documents ahead of deadlines.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:
- Reviewing plans and performing material takeoffs from project drawings for CLT and glulam packages, with all subcomponents included, and getting them reviewed by the Sr. Estimator.
- Partnering with MTS and engineering teams to provide alternate or value engineering (VE) options for bids and preparing material takeoffs for each option.
- Examining and analyzing project drawings and specifications, incorporating them into sales template inputs and material takeoffs.
- Communicating project-specific bid criteria to MTS, including lumber sourcing requirements, sustainability requirements, and the need for delegated design and specialty scope items.
- Requesting quotes from suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors for buyout scope.
- Completing bid forms for RFPs and ensuring compliance with all bid documents.
- Preparing Smartlam bids before the due date and ensuring that specifications and scope of material takeoffs are reflected in the scope section of the bid, with project-specific notes for specialty scope or exclusions.
- Updating bids as needed by MTS to incorporate additional options requested by the customer.
- Participating in the upkeep of pricing and costing databases.
- Communicating with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to review bid scope upon request by MTS.
- Leading Margin Review Meetings with the Smartlam team to review proposals and determine the final margin.
- Adhering to Smartlam estimating processes and material takeoff presentation.
- Handling any additional tasks requested by the National Sales Manager.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree in construction management, drafting, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in the commercial construction industry.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting construction documents, as well as architectural and structural plans.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with excellent time management skills.
- Self-motivated, able to multitask, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Bluebeam, CAD software, and the MS Office Suite.
COMPENSATION:
- $55,000 – 80,000.
