YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:
- Collaborating in a team environment with senior and junior staff to identify innovative solutions, pursue project opportunities, and deliver a wide range of infrastructure design projects.
- Providing engineering expertise across multiple project phases, including conceptual design, PFS, FS, detailed design, and execution.
- Developing design criteria, process flow sheets, and P&IDs.
- Sizing pumping equipment and preparing specifications.
- Creating process narratives and conducting field reviews, including responding to contractor RFIs.
- Participating in start-up and commissioning phases of projects.
- Preparing technical documents such as mine water management plans, reports, technical specifications, and construction drawing packages, covering feasibility studies through detailed design, cost estimates, tendering, and construction services.
- Performing hydraulic modeling, design calculations, and feasibility studies for infrastructure projects.
- Managing projects, including proposal preparation, work plan and fee development, invoicing, change orders, and budget tracking.
- Interfacing with clients, regulators, and the public as opportunities arise.
- Contributing to projects such as mine water management systems, pumping stations, reservoirs, storage tanks, dedicated water supply systems, and mine site dewatering systems.
- Ensuring all activities comply with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
- Pursuing continuous professional development and maintaining strong discipline knowledge.
- Maintaining a safe work environment, reporting health and safety incidents or concerns.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5–10 years of experience as a P.Eng., with relevant expertise in water infrastructure design, preferably for industrial applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- Registered, or eligible for registration, as a professional engineer in Alberta and British Columbia.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil3D.
- Strong skills in MS Excel.
- Familiarity with Python, HEC-RAS, and/or GoldSim is an asset.
- Positive, motivated, and professional demeanor.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Eagerness to learn new skills and grow within the role.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing.
- Physically able to conduct field visits, including handling equipment, traveling to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air, or foot, and performing outdoor site work in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
COMPENSATION:
- $124,000 – $137,000, annually.
