Project Designer

THE OPPORTUNITY:
We are partnering with an innovative company transforming how low-carbon buildings are designed, engineered, and delivered through a digital platform already used on real mass timber projects across the United States. They are seeking a Project Designer to take hands-on ownership of project execution, someone technically strong, fast-moving, and motivated to grow into more senior responsibility. In this role, you will directly influence design, coordination, cost, and fabrication outcomes while working in a high-trust environment supported by experienced designers, engineers, and product leaders.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:
- Leading the day-to-day execution of mass timber design work.
- Developing coordinated 3D models and design deliverables suitable for pricing, coordination, and manufacturing.
- Supporting projects through Concept Design to Construction Documentation phases, with appropriate guidance as needed.
- Reviewing and interpreting architectural and structural drawings, proactively identifying gaps, conflicts, and coordination issues early in the process.
- Coordinating directly with internal team members and external project partners on assigned work.
- Taking ownership of the quality and accuracy of deliverables prior to senior team review.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma or degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 2+ years of experience in design, drafting, BIM modelling, or related roles.
- Proven experience working on Conceptual Design through to Construction Documentation (CD) phases on real-world projects.
- Advanced proficiency in Revit and strong 3D modelling skills.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work directly from architectural and structural construction documents.
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply structural or mass timber systems with appropriate guidance.
- Strong understanding of, or curiosity toward, structural engineering concepts with a willingness to deepen technical knowledge.
- Ability to independently take assigned tasks from definition through to completion with minimal oversight.
- Strong attention to detail, consistently producing accurate, well-documented, and high-quality work.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving requirements and priorities.
- Basic project coordination skills, including tracking tasks, timelines, and dependencies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in technical contexts.
- Strong ownership mindset with accountability for quality and deliverables prior to review.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while continuously learning and applying feedback.
- Motivated by problem-solving, impact, and continuous improvement, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to change.
NICE-TO-HAVES:
- Exposure to mass timber design or construction.
- Experience with Dynamo.
- Proficiency in Rhino and Grasshopper.
- Architectural or engineering licensure.
COMPENSATION:
- $105,000 USD/year
