THE OPPORTUNITY
We’re looking for a hands-on Industrial Maintenance Electrician to join our team in Live Oak, FL. You’ll report directly to the Maintenance Manager, working on a mix of electrical maintenance tasks, special projects, and troubleshooting plant controls. If you enjoy variety in your day, solving real-time issues on the shop floor, and being part of a fast-moving operation — this could be a great fit.
This role does not require PLC programming experience, but you should understand how a PLC system works — how inputs, outputs, and sensors connect — so you can interpret and respond to errors effectively.
WHY JOIN US?
We’re committed to keeping our operations running smoothly — and we recognize the electricians who make that happen. You’ll work with a strong team, gain exposure to modern automation systems, and help keep our facility running safely and efficiently.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Perform troubleshooting and maintenance of electrical and automation/control systems.
- Understand how PLCs function — interpret error codes and identify issues (no code writing required).
- Work on special electrical projects across the facility, including layout/redesign of equipment lines and rework of machinery during off-season.
- Assist with the configuration, installation, and repair of automation equipment.
- Maintain and repair production-related electrical and mechanical systems, performing emergency and scheduled (preventive) maintenance to control downtime.
- Read wiring diagrams and mechanical plans.
- Observe equipment to detect hazards or inefficiencies and recommend improvements, diagnosing and repairing specific components (relays, circuit boards, sensors, etc.).
- Coordinate with contractors and cross-functional teams.
- Follow safety protocols and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including maintaining a safe work environment, creating procedures, lockout/tagout, and ammonia safety protocols.
- Collaborates with the Maintenance Manager to manage electrical components, parts, and supplies by monitoring inventory levels and anticipating future equipment and material needs.
WHAT YOU BRING
- A certificate, diploma, or equivalent practical experience in a relevant electrical field
- 3+ years working with industrial electrical systems
- Familiarity with Siemens PLCs and basic control systems (reading errors, interpreting signals)
- Hands-on, detail-oriented work style
- Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with team members at all levels
- Strong organizational skills and computer literacy for tracking systems/software updates
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and engineering specifications to ensure compliance with electrical codes
- Experience installing power wiring and conduit for equipment such as motors, conveyors, and programmable controllers
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic instruments, and electronic testing devices
- Proficient in dismantling and replacing faulty components using hoists, cranes, and precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers
- Experience fabricating wiring, components, or replacement parts using machine shop equipment
- Solid understanding of hardware/software systems used in production environments, including PLCs and operating systems
