THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are seeking an experienced Senior EIC Engineer to join our client’s team in a hands-on role combining industrial EIC hardware design with client interaction, site assessments, technical scoping, and written consulting deliverables. The technical baseline includes industrial control system hardware, low-voltage power up to 600V, MCCs, VFDs, control panels, field instrumentation, PLC I/O, industrial network architecture, and associated engineering documentation. What distinguishes this opportunity is the ownership expected before a project is fully defined. Bulk material handling experience and broad industrial exposure are preferred. PLC programming and HMI development are outside the scope of this role.

WHAT SETS THIS ROLE APART:

The successful candidate will be comfortable stepping into projects with incomplete information and limited direction. Given a site, terminal, or loosely defined objective, they will identify the real problem, close information gaps, establish assumptions and boundaries, define the technical scope, and drive the work to a defensible conclusion.

A significant portion of the role involves personally authoring audits, equipment assessments, recommendations, and proposals. Candidates must translate the same technical findings for engineers, financial stakeholders, and executives, producing clear, decision-ready writing without losing technical accuracy.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Independently planning and conducting client site visits, audits, investigations, and equipment assessments.
  • Turning loosely defined objectives into clear problem statements, assumptions, boundaries, deliverables, technical scopes, and high-level project plans.
  • Performing hands-on EIC engineering and hardware design for industrial applications alongside the scoping and assessment work.
  • Designing low-voltage electrical systems up to 600V, including MCCs, VFDs, control panels, and associated systems.
  • Developing and reviewing electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, control panel hardware, PLC I/O and instrumentation layouts, industrial network architecture, and related documentation.
  • Personally authoring site and equipment assessments, technical reports, proposals, and recommendations for engineering, financial, and executive audiences.
  • Determining applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements for projects across different jurisdictions.
  • Providing technical direction and delegating project tasks to engineers, designers, and other technical resources as appropriate.
  • Building strong relationships with existing and prospective clients and serving as a trusted technical advisor.
  • Collaborating with project managers, engineers, designers, contractors, and other stakeholders to deliver projects successfully.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related discipline; P.Eng. designation.
  • Significant industrial EIC engineering and design experience.
  • Bulk material handling experience is considered a strong asset.
  • Medium-voltage systems and power-system study experience, including load flow, short-circuit, coordination, arc flash, harmonics, or grounding, is considered an asset.
  • Strong experience with industrial controls, low-voltage power systems (600V and below), MCCs, VFDs, and control panels.
  • Experience designing PLC-based control system hardware, including I/O architecture, field instrumentation, control panels, industrial networks, and equipment interfaces.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong understanding of applicable electrical codes and industry standards.
  • Demonstrated ownership of front-end scope definition and high-level project planning, including independent site assessments and solutions developed from incomplete or ambiguous information.
  • Demonstrated ability to personally author clear reports, assessments, recommendations, and proposals, and translate findings for engineering, financial, and executive audiences.
  • Broad experience across multiple industries, project types, equipment, and operating environments.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites as required.
  • Shortlisted candidates may be asked for a non-engineering writing sample.

COMPENSATION:

  • $130,000 – $150,000/year + a potential performance bonus up to $12,000.
