Intermediate EIC Engineer
THE OPPORTUNITY:
Our client, a respected engineering and automation solutions provider serving industrial operations across a variety of sectors, is seeking an Electrical/Controls Engineer to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse and technically challenging projects involving EIC system design, controls development, and industrial automation solutions. Working closely with clients and project teams, the successful candidate will help deliver high-quality, responsive engineering services that meet operational requirements, industry standards, and regulatory codes. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:
- Performing EIC engineering and design for greenfield and existing industrial applications.
- Using standard engineering tools and software to validate electrical systems.
- Using EPLAN and AutoCAD Electrical to produce design drawings and revise drawings as required.
- Developing electrical schematics per UL508A and CEC standards, including panel layouts, BOMs for custom control panels, and drawing sets from existing templates.
- Developing equipment and instrument lists, selecting appropriate equipment per customer specifications and internal standards, and generating PLC IO lists and PLC rack layouts.
- Developing network topology drawings and designing network panels.
- Designing safety systems, including producing safety architecture drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Developing single line diagrams, including sizing circuit breakers, cables and VFDs, and performing load demand calculations.
- Designing lighting and emergency lighting systems, performing simulations, and developing drawings.
- Writing technical documentation to support design activities and documenting work plans and work performed.
- Corresponding with electrical fabrication shops and electrical contractors.
- Inspecting electrical components during and after installation and performing FAT testing in-house and occasionally at remote locations.
- Performing supervision and commissioning services at client sites as required per the commissioning schedule, which occasionally involves working outside regular hours, including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
- Communicating effectively with clients regarding project progress in a manner consistent with project goals and internal expectations.
- Managing individual projects to ensure they are prioritized and completed on schedule, providing feedback to project managers, and supplying time estimates for work being performed.
- Entering work hours and project comments into the timesheet system weekly and in accordance with management deadlines.
- Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Professional Engineer designation or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer (EGBC).
- Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience in industrial machine design and/or electrical and controls design roles.
- Experience in the design of power distribution systems ranging from 120V to 4160V is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, Microsoft Office, and Excel.
- Experience interpreting technical specifications, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and client requirements, and providing feedback when procedural or design changes are required.
- Ability and willingness to travel a minimum of 20% of the time to support business operations and project requirements.
COMPENSATION:
- $90,000 – $105,000/year (plus $10k+ Bonus)
